TLDR; You can earn up to 5x Bilt points on Lyft rides, but you need to make sure you have everything set up properly.
You can earn 2x Bilt points on Lyft rides when you connect your Bilt Rewards to your Lyft account. And if you’re a Bilt cardholder, you can earn up to 5x points when paying with a Bilt card.
And if you have Bilt points in your Bilt account, you can use those points to pay for Lyft rides.
How do I link my Bilt account to Lyft?
Firstly, you’ll want to go onto the Lyft app. From there you will go to the section for “You” in the bottom right of the app.

Then you will click on “Rewards” under the Programs section and then “Linked” and it will show you all the different programs you can link your Lyft account to.

You will choose the Bilt option and sign in to your account.

After you sign in, you just need to follow the prompts and should be all set from there.
Connecting your Bilt Rewards to the Lyft app is important as you won’t be able to earn or redeem Bilt points until doing so.
Is it worth it to link Bilt to my Lyft account?
Short answer, yes. You should indeed link your Bilt Rewards to your Lyft account as you’re earning Bilt points at no cost to you.
If you want to earn 5x Bilt points on Lyft Rideshare, you'll need to also pay with your Bilt Mastercard. That is to say:
- Earn 3X points on Lyft rideshare, bikes, and scooters booked through the Lyft app when you pay with your Bilt Mastercard.
- Earn 2X points on Lyft rideshare booked through the Lyft app when you link your Bilt Rewards and Lyft accounts, and you select Bilt rewards as your active loyalty rewards partner.
So to earn 5x, you take the 3x from Lyft rideshare and add it on top of the 2x earned through the Lyft app. Very nice.
And if you have a card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® that earns 5x points on Lyft rides, you can still earn Bilt points on Lyft rides! Essentially you would be earning 5x Chase points while still earning 2x Bilt points on the same rides, for a total of 7x points on Lyft rideshare (awesome).
Uber or Lyft—what’s better?
Based on my hundreds of rideshare experiences over the years, I’ll say that I don’t have much of a preference between Uber and Lyft. Generally speaking, I’ve found that Uber rides are nicer with cleaner cars and more gentle drivers. But I’ve had really positive experiences in Lyfts as well. And bad experiences with both Uber and Lyft.
In summary, I’d be happy to take a Lyft in order to earn some extra points whether they are Bilt points or other types of points.
Is it worth it to redeem Bilt points for Lyft rides?
999 times out of 1000 I would never redeem Bilt points for Lyft rides. The reason being that you are not getting the best value for your Bilt points. According to Frequent Miler, you are getting 0.7 cents per point in value when you redeem your Bilt points for Lyft rides. This is less than half of what you could get for your Bilt points. Oftentimes you can get over 2 cents per point in value with your Bilt points.
Final Remarks
If you’d like some extra Bilt points for less than 5 minutes of effort, connecting your Bilt Rewards to your Lyft account is a no brainer. And you’ll earn points whether you use your Bilt card or not—so make sure to link the two together sooner rather than later!
