iOS app privacy supplement
This section explains how the nextcard iOS app handles your information. It supplements the main Privacy Policy below, including its retention terms, privacy rights, and contact information. The information used depends on the features you choose.
Your account and Wallet
We use your sign-in information and account identifier to authenticate you and connect your Wallet and preferences to your account. Clerk provides authentication. Convex provides our application backend and stores account data. This can include saved cards, rewards accounts and balances, credit usage, saved places, preferences, and information you enter for household members.
Connected financial accounts
If you connect an account through Plaid, we receive account and transaction information from that connection. This includes account identifiers, institution information, balances, and transaction details. We use it to show spending and track eligible credits automatically. You can manage and disconnect linked accounts in the app. Disconnecting a financial account and deleting your nextcard account are separate actions.
Issuer and rewards sync
When you use a supported sync feature, the app opens the provider's website for sign-in. It reads account information for the sync you request and sends the results to nextcard. Results can include member identifiers, rewards balances and status, card details such as last four digits, benefit usage, and merchant offers or their activation status.
The app keeps provider sign-in sessions on your device. If you enable saved login, the app stores that provider login in this iPhone's Keychain to sign in on the provider's website. The saved login is not synced through iCloud. You can remove it in that connection's settings. Removing a saved login does not end an existing provider session or delete results already saved to nextcard.
App Store subscriptions
Apple processes App Store subscription payments. We receive transaction identifiers, product and purchase information, subscription status, and an account token that links the purchase to your nextcard account. We use these records to verify purchases, provide plan access, restore purchases, and handle subscription changes. This purchase flow does not give nextcard your full payment card details from Apple.
Location and place searches
If you grant location permission, the app uses your location to show nearby places. Map searches send search terms, filters, and the area shown on the map to our services to retrieve results. That area can reflect your current location. You can change location permission in iOS Settings and search other areas without granting it.
App analytics and diagnostics
The production app uses PostHog for feature usage and error diagnostics. App screens, feature events, device and app information, and error categories help us understand usage and investigate problems. Analytics use your authenticated account identifier to associate activity across sessions. The app resets that identity on sign-out or account change. Native session replay and automatic interaction capture are disabled.
Services that handle app data
The services described above process information for their respective functions: Clerk for authentication, Convex for application data, Plaid for financial account connections, Apple for App Store purchases and native map features, and PostHog for analytics and diagnostics. Their privacy information is available here:
Retention and deletion choices
The main policy's retention terms apply to app data: information is kept for the purposes for which it was collected, with longer retention where required by applicable legal obligations or based on your consent. This supplement does not set a separate retention period.
You can request account deletion from Profile in the app. The process deletes account data and requests cleanup of connected services. External cleanup can require retries. Deleting your nextcard account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in your Apple Account subscription settings to stop future billing.
