New: Earn 3x Qatar Avios on Bilt Rent Payments

Bilt and Qatar Airways Privilege Club are expanding their relationship beyond point transfers.

Starting August 5, 2026, eligible U.S. cardholders can earn a total of 3 Avios per $1 when they pay rent through Bilt with either the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card or the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Infinite Credit Card.

What's also interesting is Avios' flexibility. The points first arrive as Qatar Airways Avios, but Avios are shared across several airline loyalty programs. That means the value of the offer is not limited to Qatar Airways redemptions. It can also support British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, Loganair, and Finnair strategies when accounts are linked correctly.

What's new in the Bilt and Qatar Airways partnership

Before this announcement, Bilt members could transfer Bilt Points to Qatar Airways Privilege Club at a 1:1 ratio. That transfer relationship remains.

Now, when paying your rent with either the:

• Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card
• Qatar Airways Privilege Club Infinite Credit Card

you'll earn a total of 3 Avios per $1 on as much as $50,000 in rent per calendar year. At the cap, that is 150,000 Avios per calendar year. The word total is important: this is not 3 additional Avios on top of the card's usual 1 Avios per $1 earning rate.

Important: a 3% transaction fee applies.

Why the transferable Avios ecosystem is the biggest part of this deal

Remember: Avios is all part of one big conglomerate.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club lets members link their accounts with British Airways Club and move Avios between the two programs immediately and without changing their value. From British Airways, the same Avios can be moved between a member's own Iberia Club, AerClub, Vueling Club, Loganair Loyalty and Finnair Plus accounts.

Practically, British Airways acts as the hub. A cardholder can move Qatar Avios to British Airways, then route them to another supported Avios program. This means that this partnership essentially opens you up to book via any of the Avios partner airlines.

Why moving Avios matters

Different Avios programs can offer different award prices, partner access, surcharges and booking rules. A Qatar award may be best for Qsuite or another Qatar-operated itinerary, while British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling or Finnair may be more useful for a different trip.

That optionality is critical because it turns the rent benefit into a broad Avios-earning strategy rather than a Qatar-only rebate. Once Avios are moved, however, the current program's rules control the redemption. Thankfully, you can always move them back through to Qatar through British if you so please.

Qatar Airways Visa Signature vs. Visa Infinite

These Qatar Airways credit cards launched in the U.S. in 2024 and remain unfamiliar to many travelers.

Both earn Avios directly in Qatar Airways Privilege Club, have no foreign transaction fee and provide a first-year shortcut to airline status. The Infinite is the more expensive premium product, while the Signature is the lower-fee option.

Both cards earn Qpoints and include a first-year status head start

Similar to the Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® credit card and Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® credit card, there is a lot of side benefit to spending on the card outside of points alone.

Significant Qpoints earning potential

Both Qatar Airways credit cards earn Qpoints from qualifying card spend, but the Infinite earns them at a faster rate:

• Qatar Airways Visa Signature: 2 Qpoints for every 2,000 Avios earned from eligible purchases
• Qatar Airways Visa Infinite: 2 Qpoints for every 1,500 Avios earned from eligible purchases

The Infinite therefore requires 25% fewer qualifying Avios for each 2 Qpoints, which works out to a 33% higher Qpoint earning rate per qualifying Avios.

Qpoints are Qatar Airways’ status currency, not Avios that can be redeemed for flights. They help Privilege Club members qualify for or retain Silver, Gold and Platinum status. Qatar Airways also imposes flight-activity requirements for tier qualification and renewal, so earning enough Qpoints through card spending may not satisfy every status requirement.

If all 150,000 Avios available from $50,000 of annual rent qualify, the Signature could generate 150 Qpoints and the Infinite could generate 200 Qpoints (which is enough for Qatar Silver status).

Both cards offer the $15,000 reward flight fee waiver

The reward flight fee waiver is available on both the Qatar Airways Visa Signature and Visa Infinite cards.

Cardholders can unlock the waiver by making $15,000 in eligible purchases during the first 12 months after opening the account. The waiver then remains active for 12 months beginning on the date the spending threshold is reached.

To renew the benefit for another 12 months, the cardholder must make $25,000 in eligible purchases during the active waiver period. If the benefit lapses, eligibility can be restored after completing $25,000 in eligible purchases during a subsequent 12-month period.

The waiver does not eliminate every cash charge associated with an award ticket. It covers the qualifying carrier-imposed reward or redemption fee, while government taxes and other charges can remain. The waived fee is returned as a statement credit on a subsequent billing statement after every flight in the award reservation has been flown.

Nonetheless, spending $15,000 or $25,000 in rent on the cards would deliver a super enticing benefit in the reward flight fee waiver.

Who should consider paying rent with a Qatar Airways card

The strongest candidates are renters who already hold one of the Qatar Airways cards, can pay their balance in full, regularly redeem Avios for more than 1 cent each and have a clear use for the broader Avios ecosystem. If you're chasing Qatar status or spend enough on rent to earn the reward flight fee waiver, it's yet another reason to add the cards... but wait until Bilt confirms whether or not rent counts as eligible spend here.

Note: the 3% fee is nothing small to scoff at. You need to run the numbers and see if it adds up for you.

Notably, if you currently have a Bilt Card, there's a lot of complex math that needs to be run.
