The nextcard connector lets Claude or ChatGPT read your nextcard wallet (cards, statement credits, rewards balances, and card-linked offers), keep it up to date, and search nextcard's restaurant and hotel maps. It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP). To connect, follow the steps on the AI assistants page and sign in with your nextcard account.
What the connector can see and change
Every tool runs as the nextcard account you signed in with and returns only that account's data. Write tools change nextcard's own records only: they never apply for a card, close a bank account, or redeem money, and each one tells you how to undo it, except setting a card's first opened date. Your assistant may ask you to confirm a change before making it.
To stop sharing, remove nextcard from your assistant's connectors.
Reading your wallet and maps
- get_overview
- Summarizes your account: plan, number of cards, total annual fees, statement credits used this year and currently available, credits expiring within 30 days, and estimated rewards value.
- Try: “How much value have I gotten from my cards this year?”
- list_cards
- Lists the cards in your nextcard wallet with issuer, nickname, last four digits, opened date, and annual fee. Can include cards you removed.
- Try: “Which of my cards have an annual fee?”
- get_card
- Shows one wallet card's earn rates, benefits, and statement credits with this period's usage.
- Try: “What does my travel card earn on dining?”
- list_credits
- Lists statement credits for the current period: amount, amount used and remaining, and period dates. Filters by card, status, or credits ending soon.
- Try: “Which credits expire this month?”
- list_rewards
- Lists your points, miles, and cash back by program, plus cents-per-point valuation, estimated value, pending points, status level, and manually tracked awards with follow-up ids and redemption details.
- Try: “What are my points worth in total?”
- list_transfer_partners
- Lists active transfer partners across the catalog, including standard and boosted ratios, active or next-7-day bonuses with status and dates, transfer URLs, and wallet-card eligibility. Ended bonuses and transfers are hidden. Filter by source program, held loyalty account, or destination partner, and paginate large results.
- Try: “Where can I transfer Membership Rewards, and is there a bonus right now?”
- list_offers
- Lists card-linked merchant offers on your cards: merchant, reward, minimum spend, expiry, status, and card. Searchable by merchant, 20 per page by default and up to 50.
- Try: “Do I have any offers for coffee shops?”
- list_maps
- Lists nextcard's restaurant and hotel maps, including Restaurant Week maps, with the programs and filters each map accepts.
- Try: “Which hotel maps can you search?”
- search_restaurants
- Searches one restaurant map the way its page filters: by name, place or coordinates, programs, cuisines, rating, features, stacked rewards, menu items, Restaurant Week details, your saved restaurants, and newly added or removed restaurants. Returns 10 restaurants per page by default and up to 25, with their programs, reward stack, and a nextcard link. Modeled returns are illustrative estimates, not guaranteed savings.
- Try: “Find Italian restaurants in Brooklyn that stack Resy and inKind.”
- search_hotels
- Searches one hotel map the way its page filters: by name, place or coordinates, programs, rating, nightly cash and points ranges, price dates, brands, award fees, and your saved hotels. Returns 10 hotels per page by default and up to 25, with each program's lowest nightly rate and points, and a nextcard link. priceFrom and priceTo (YYYY-MM-DD) are both included: prices are each program's cheapest single night in that range, not a quote for a stay. Prices are cached from the programs and can change.
- Try: “Find hotels in Paris under $800 a night for June 1 to June 5.”
Updating your wallet
- add_card
- Adds a card to your nextcard wallet by name or catalog slug. This records the card in nextcard only; it does not apply for a card. When several cards match, it changes nothing and asks you to choose.
- Try: “Add the card I just got approved for to nextcard.”
- update_card
- Changes a wallet card's nickname, last four digits, opened date, or cardholder type. Only the fields you name change, and the result includes the previous values to undo it. Setting an opened date on a card that had none cannot be undone: nextcard cannot clear an opened date once it is set.
- Try: “Set my newest card's opened date to March 3.”
- remove_card
- Removes a card from your nextcard wallet. The card is archived with its history kept, your bank account is not affected, and restore_card brings it back.
- Try: “Remove the card I closed from nextcard.”
- restore_card
- Puts a removed card back in your nextcard wallet.
- Try: “Restore the card I removed yesterday.”
- set_credit_usage
- Records how much of a statement credit you have used this period. This updates nextcard's tracking only and never redeems money; the result includes the previous amount to undo it.
- Try: “Mark my dining credit as used for this month.”
- set_credit_tracked
- Chooses whether nextcard tracks a statement credit. Ignored credits are hidden from available totals and reminders; call it again to undo.
- Try: “Stop tracking the credits I never use.”
Plans and limits
- Map searches apply the same plan rules as the map pages. A restaurant filter your plan does not include is skipped and listed in the result's restrictedFilters.
- Hotel prices cover the dates your plan includes for that map. Searching by price dates needs a plan with hotel date search; dates outside your plan's window are refused rather than ignored.
- Results come in pages: pass a result's nextCursor back to get the next page.
- To keep runaway agents in check, each account can average about 120 tool calls and 30 changes a minute, with smaller bursts at once.
