Some Chase credit cards offer $10 off on one non-restaurant order on Doordash every month. Others are every quarter. And there’s even Chase cards that even have $10 off two non-restaurant orders every month.

With these DoorDash credits, you can save a considerable amount of money all while not leaving your house (or you can save some fees if you decide to order pickup)

What is my experience with $10 Doordash credits for non-restaurant orders?

Firstly, I love these Doordash credits. As someone who always enjoys finding extra savings, the DoorDash credits are pretty high on my list.

When I used to have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the $10 off credit was for grocery orders. At the beginning of every month, I would order about $10-$12 worth of groceries and pay $4-$6 total (after tip) to have it delivered to my house.

I get that it might sound like a lot of effort just to save ten bucks, but I completely disagree. This credit has been incredibly useful for me. Whenever I’m not in the mood to go grocery shopping—or realize I forgot something—it comes in clutch. It either buys me an extra day before I have to shop again (which is always a win), or it helps wrap up anything I missed on my previous trip.

And now that I have upgraded to the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, I have two $10 off credits for non-restaurant orders with DoorDash. This is really nice as I usually use one for myself and then gift the other to my girlfriend for her grocery shopping.

You’ll get the best value for these credits if you spend around $10 to $12. Once you go above that, you’re not getting as much bang for your buck as items on DoorDash are already a bit overpriced.

Let me show you a recent order I made from Market 32 for the month of December on my Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

If I were to shop for groceries in person these two items would probably be around a dollar cheaper for the subtotal. But with the DoorDash credit, I’m paying less than $6 for delivery on these two items (where I would normally spend $11ish.)

And here’s an order I placed for my girlfriend.

There’s more items on here but you get the jist—it’s a much bigger order than the one I placed. She was going to have groceries delivered no matter what so the DoorDash credit was still beneficial.

Reminder that if you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you can't use the $20 of total credit all at once. You must place two separate non-restaurant orders to be able to use each $10 credit.

Would I use DoorDash if I didn’t have these credits?

Honestly, no. DoorDash has lots of fees associated with orders even with DashPass (comes with many Chase cards). When I’m deciding whether to deliver or pick-up, I’ll almost always go in-store if it's cheaper. For some folks this may not be the same calculation. For instance, my sister’s boyfriend loves delivering things. Food, groceries, clothes. You name it, he’s delivering it. If you are someone who likes delivered groceries to save some time or extra effort, DoorDash can be great for that. Especially with DashPass.

Final Remarks

The DoorDash credits are a nice little bonus on your credit card. Let’s say you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. If you use the DoorDash credit every month, that’s $120 in value for a $95 annual fee card. And that’s not even including complimentary DashPass. For people that have cards with quarterly $10 off non-restaurant order coupons, just make sure you have a reminder set up to use those. Very easy to forget (I’ve done it before).

If you like extra savings and are willing to put in a lil bit of extra work, the DoorDash credits are right up your alley. By no means would I suggest getting a specific card for these credits. But it’s just a reminder that if you have one of these Chase cards with DoorDash coupons, make sure you put them to use.
