That means 10,000 Bilt Points becomes 10,000 TrueBlue points, which you can use toward JetBlue flights, including Mint. It’s a useful addition if you regularly fly JetBlue, especially around New York, Boston, Florida and the Caribbean.
The transfer rate is competitive with other major programs at the 1:1 transfer rate. But Bilt also has many other particularly appealing airline and hotel partners, so just be mindful that there’s an opportunity cost to using those points for JetBlue.
TL;DR
JetBlue becomes Bilt’s 27th travel partner, with Bilt Points transferring to TrueBlue at 1:1.
Transfers start at 1,000 Bilt Points for Silver, Gold and Platinum members and 2,000 for Blue members, in increments of 1,000.
Consider what you’d give up: Bilt Points can also go to partners such as Atmos Rewards, Japan Airlines and World of Hyatt, which may be more valuable for your travel plans.
Bilt’s new JetBlue transfer partnership
Following the addition of Amtrak as Bilt’s first rail transfer partner, JetBlue gives Bilt members another option for using their points on travel.
You can transfer through the Bilt app or Bilt.com after linking your TrueBlue account. The minimum depends on your Bilt status:
Blue: Transfer at least 2,000 Bilt Points.
Silver, Gold or Platinum: Transfer at least 1,000 Bilt Points.
All transfers must be made in 1,000-point increments. The 1:1 ratio is the same across these tiers; Blue members simply have a higher minimum.
Once transferred, you’ll then use the points through TrueBlue to book your flight.
How Bilt compares with other JetBlue transfer partners
Bilt joins several programs that already transfer to JetBlue, but they don’t all offer the same conversion rate.
Here’s how the major transferable programs compare before any transfer bonuses:
Rewards program | Transfer ratio to JetBlue | Number of TrueBlue points after transferring 10,000 points/miles |
|---|---|---|
Bilt Rewards | 1:1 | 10,000 |
Chase Ultimate Rewards | 1:1 | 10,000 |
Citi ThankYou Rewards with select premium cards* | 1:1 | 10,000 |
Wells Fargo Rewards | 1:1 | 10,000 |
Rove Miles | 1:1 | 10,000 |
American Express Membership Rewards | 5:4 | 8,000 |
Capital One Miles | 5:3 | 6,000 |
*Citi’s transfer ratio depends on your card. Eligible cards such as the Citi Strata Premier® Card , Citi Strata Elite℠ Card and Citi Prestige® Card transfer to JetBlue via the 1:1 rate.
For the same 10,000 points transferred, Bilt gives you 2,000 more TrueBlue points than Amex and 4,000 more than Capital One.
Transfer bonuses can also change the comparison. You can use nextcard’s transfer-partner comparison tool to compare transfer ratios, eligible cards and available transfer bonuses.
Is it worth transferring Bilt points to JetBlue?
We value JetBlue points at roughly 1.3-1.4 cents per point. Additionally, JetBlue award redemptions are generally closely tied to the cash fare, meaning that it’s generally hard to find outsized value.
So that leaves the question, why would I use Bilt points for JetBlue flights? Well, you might not have enough points/want to use so many points for a business class flight. Or there’s no business class opportunities for where you are going. I also have friends who transfer to JetBlue so they can get to Christmas to see family at a low point cost with decent cents per point value.
There could be the chance that you don’t want to put a lot of time into searching for really good value and are ok with settling for 1.3-1.4ish cents per point.
It all depends what kind of traveler you are and what’s your specific situation.
Bilt’s other transfer partners raise the opportunity cost
As mentioned above, the biggest consideration is what else you could do with those Bilt Points.
Bilt’s partner lineup includes Atmos Rewards, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, and World of Hyatt among others (extremely valuable transfer partners with lots of potential value). If you’re saving Bilt Points for one of those redemptions, sending them to JetBlue means having fewer points available for that trip. A competitive transfer ratio doesn’t account for the value of the alternatives you’re giving up.
For example, suppose you have both Bilt Points and another currency like Wells Fargo or Citi that transfers to JetBlue at 1:1. If you need Bilt Points for a high value Hyatt redemption, you’re better off using your Wells Fargo/Citi points to transfer to JetBlue, since neither can transfer to Hyatt.
JetBlue is a welcome addition, but we’d be selective about using Bilt Points here.
I’d normally transfer to Hyatt, Air Canada, or Atmos 9 times out of 10 but that doesn’t mean I haven’t transferred to JetBlue before. For example, I have used JetBlue points for a beautiful trip to the Dominican Republic; it all depends on the situation.
