The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is an intriguing card for your business with outsized earn rates in select categories. The no annual fee card also comes with a (huge) limited time welcome bonus of $1,000 to help your business earn some extra cash back.
There’s a ton of business cards out on the market. Some of them can be a lot with high annual fees and a variety of credit and benefits to keep track of.
At the same time, there are some cards like the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card that have lower across the board earn rates with not enough desirable benefits. The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card can serve as a happy medium, with great earn rates for certain categories along with no annual fee. And not too many coupons or things to keep track of.
Find out if the Ink Business Cash is a good fit for your business using nextcard's Business Card Finder tool.
With the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you can currently earn $1,000 when you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first four months after account opening.
This is a strong introductory offer for a no annual fee business card and is the best ever offer seen on this card.
What’s great about the welcome offer is that you can save yourself some money on your business expenditures. And if you or your employees travel often for work, the cash back you earn can be converted into Chase points.
The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is one of my favorite business cards in my wallet as it earns cash back in common business categories along with the potential to turn cash back into valuable Chase points for travel.
It has a no annual fee with a solid welcome offer and an impressive earning structure:
| Spending Category | Cash Back Rate | Annual Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Office supply stores; internet, cable, and phone services | 5% | $25,000 combined |
| Gas stations and restaurants | 2% | $25,000 combined |
| All other purchases | 1% | No cap |
Of note, the 5% and 2% cash back returns to 1% cash back after $25,000 in spending (per combined category) each account anniversary year.
This card is intriguing as you can get more bang for your buck with the 5% cash back categories. For instance, you could get 5% back at a store like Staples for all your business needs because Staples counts as an office supply store.
The 2% at gas stations and restaurants makes for a decent earning rate for everyday spend on gas and food.
And don’t forget the 0% introductory APR for 12 months which can help with avoiding big interest payments. Like the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card, it will not show up on your 5/24.
Now, you might remember that I wrote a comparison article about the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card versus the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card. Since I wrote that article, I realized I omitted an underrated benefit of the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card: Instacart coupons.
Once you get the card, you are entitled to $20 of Instacart credit per month (as long as you have Instacart+), adding up to $240 annually. If you want to see which other Chase cards offer Instacart benefits, we have a full breakdown worth checking out.
You will also receive three months free of Instacart+ with your Ink Business Cash® Credit Card. With Instacart+ you will get $0 delivery fees on eligible orders of $10 or more. It also comes with a Peacock Premium subscription and one year free of The New York Times cooking subscription.
Personally I tried out the Instacart feature on my Ink Business Cash® Credit Card a week ago and it was excellent. I was able to get groceries that would cost me $25 if I went to the store and shopped for them for just $4 delivered to my house (Thanks to the complimentary Instacart+ AND $20 of Instacart credit). I couldn't believe the value. I thought the 2 non-restaurant orders with $10 coupons with my Chase Sapphire Reserve® was decent, but this is way better.
As a person who lives alone, I’m able to get a few things I need for the next couple of days or it can be a way to supplement my grocery shopping over the week. And saves me a lot of time!
The welcome offer can be used for a number of redemption options. The most obvious redemption is getting cash back directly. That’s all well and good but I find the option to convert cash back to Chase points to be much more interesting.
You can use these Chase points directly on Chase’s travel portal where you can book a flight, hotel, rental car and a number of other travel options. The travel portal can be decent but the 1:1 redemptions with Chase’s travel partners are most intriguing. You cannot directly book with Chase’s travel partners on the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card. So how do you book with the travel partners?
To transfer Chase points to Chase’s travel partners, you need to pair your Ink Business Cash® Credit Card with a Chase premium card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card or Sapphire Reserve for Business℠. With these cards you will have access to transfer your Chase points to travel partners like Iberia, United or Hyatt. All you have to do is transfer the Chase points from your Ink Business Cash® Credit Card to a Chase premium card and you have access!
The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card’s welcome bonus can get you $1,000 cash back which can be converted to 100,000 Chase points. An amazing number of points to book travel. You could book a business class flight from the US to Madrid, Spain or book a 4 night stay at the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco, California. The possibilities can be endless with the plethora of travel booking options.
You will receive purchase protection, primary car rental coverage and extended warranty protection. The details of the benefits are below:
Yes. The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card has 3% foreign transaction fees when spending money outside the US. If you are looking for a business card that doesn’t have any foreign transaction fees, you might want to check out the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card.
The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is perfect for the business owner who wants to earn more in certain categories like office supplies or internet. This candidate doesn’t want to deal with any sort of annual fee along with an endless list of coupons. They want something straightforward and simple.
I would also say that if you or your employees travel a lot, the cash back you earn can be converted into points. And when the cash back is converted into points, they can be extremely valuable.
Most businesses can benefit immensely from the 5% category of your choosing as anecdotally most businesses I know need to pay for internet and phone services.
And if you are someone who runs a one man/woman operation where your business doesn’t require frequent travel, the Chase points converted after you earn cash back could be useful personally! All you have to do is set up your business and personal cards under one umbrella account and then transfer the points to the respective personal cards. This can be great for you to take a nice leisurely getaway from the intense nature of running a business.
The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is the card for you if you are looking for solid earn rates in popular business spending categories like office supplies or phone services. The no annual fee along with an impressive welcome bonus are some nice pluses as well. The welcome bonus can serve as a starting point for you and/or your employees to start planning the next business trip. And the spend on business categories will only build upon that. You’ll be able to save hundreds to thousands in travel with the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card.
No. The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card has no annual fee, which makes it easy to hold long-term without worrying about offsetting a yearly cost. That said, you still get a solid welcome bonus and strong cash back categories, a rare combination for a no annual fee card.
No. The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card will not show up on your personal credit report and does not add to your 5/24 count, similar to other Chase Ink business cards. This makes it a great card to pick up even if you are working toward other personal card approvals.
Not directly. To transfer your cash back (converted to Chase points) to travel partners like United, Hyatt, or Iberia, you need to pair the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card with a premium Chase card such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. Once you have a premium card, transfer the points over and you can book with any of Chase's travel partners.
Both the 5% and 2% cash back categories are capped at $25,000 in combined spending per account anniversary year. After you hit that cap in a given category, purchases in that category drop back to 1% cash back. For most small businesses, $25,000 is plenty of room to earn at the higher rate all year long.
Once you have the card, you get up to $20 in Instacart credit per month that adds up to up to $240 annually, plus three complimentary months of Instacart+. With Instacart+, you get $0 delivery fees on eligible orders of $10 or more. It is one of the more underrated perks on the card and well worth activating right after you get approved.
