Bilt has over 20,000 Neighborhood dining restaurants but only a small subset of partner restaurants use Mobile Dining Checkout where you can use your Bilt Cash to pay up to $25 on your bill per month.
*NOTE: There’s a lot of anecdotal news that restaurants that are listed as eligible can’t even accept Mobile Checkout or are unfamiliar with it. We urge caution when using this feature.
Finding the eligible restaurants within Bilt’s app/site is confusing & difficult. It’s proximity gated, meaning it will only show you restaurants within a certain radius of you. Only restaurants that use Mobile Checkout are eligible for the monthly Bilt Cash dining redemption (you need to apply the Mobile Checkout filter).
Alternatively, you can see a full map of the eligible restaurants here.
Bilt denotes the instructions as follows:
From my experience, the Mobile Checkout card may need to be brought out to you. For example, at one restaurant prior to the launch of the new Bilt cards, I randomly discovered it used Bilt Mobile Checkout. The waiter gave me a little Bilt QR code that I could scan.
Once I scanned it, it brought me straight to the Bilt app. However, since I wasn’t familiar with the program and planned to pay with InKind, I did not proceed with it.
I live in the Greater Boston area (west of Boston) and was hoping to find some restaurants eligible for Bilt Cash outside of the city. No dice. There are 4 restaurants in Boston though.
I’ve actually been to one of the restaurants in Boston—Taco Azul.
It has pretty decent food but it’s also expensive—like $12 for a taco (yikes). And my girlfriend has been there before with her friends and she liked it. She said the vibes were good, food was generally very good, margaritas were solid and the guacamole specifically wasn’t great.
The number of restaurants is constantly changing and it’s been discovered that even some restaurants on the list aren’t familiar with the program. We’ve seen a slim few number of successes, but most people are generally unable to use this benefit when checking out.
There have been even occasions when an eligible restaurant is listed, but then the list changes and that restaurant is removed.
We urge you to be cautious when redeeming this credit—plan for the worst case scenario, which is that the restaurant is removed. I’ve found it best to call the restaurant directly to inquire further.
Unfortunately, most Neighborhood dining restaurants are not eligible for the monthly $25 Bilt Cash redemption.
The number of eligible restaurants also appears to constantly change.
Here’s an extensive list of all of the other potential redemptions with Bilt Cash:
Some of my favorite uses on this list include the hotel credit, grocery or dining delivery with Grubhub and the up to $25 of Bilt cash every month at select Bilt Dining restaurants. The fitness class credit is also pretty intriguing as I could gift this to my girlfriend who likes SoulCycle classes.
I like to go on little vacations to go skiing or find a warm escape so I think I could make good use of the hotel credit. Especially when I stack the hotel credit on top of the Bilt Palladium Card’s $400 hotel credit (up to $200 for a minimum two night stay semiannually). And I enjoy eating out a lot so I could see myself dining at select Bilt Dining restaurants as long as Bilt comes through with their promise of adding more restaurants eligible for Bilt Cash redemption.
If I can’t find a credit for my Bilt Cash, I’ll either gift one of the credits to a friend or redeem the Bilt Cash against my rent.
Even if you can’t take advantage of the Bilt Cash opportunities with select Bilt Dining restaurants, there’s still value to be had with the 20,000 other restaurants.
You can earn anywhere between 1x to 3x Bilt points when you dine at one of the many Bilt Dining restaurants. And you can do this with or without a Bilt card!
If you don’t have an account with Bilt, you’ll need to create a Bilt Rewards account. Then, you’ll link whatever credit cards you would like to add to your Bilt Rewards account. You’ll essentially be earning Bilt points ON TOP of the rewards you earn on your credit cards. Pretty cool, right?
The plethora of Bilt Cash uses can be kinda overwhelming and complicated. If I were you, I would do some research on what uses you would enjoy best in your own life. For most folks the $25 of Bilt Cash per month on dining could be well worth it since most people I know enjoy eating out. The one issue is the lack of restaurants on the Bilt Dining map that accept Bilt Cash. Fingers crossed that Bilt will come out with more restaurants that are eligible for the Bilt Cash redemption.
