The American Express Platinum Card® now offers another way to use its $600 annual Lodging Credit: Airbnb Luxe. Instead of limiting the benefit to Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) and The Hotel Collection (THC), cardholders can use it toward eligible luxury vacation homes.
While Airbnb Luxe homes as a whole are generally quite expensive, we’ve found some surprisingly affordable properties. For instance, there are homes averaging as little as $140 per night, with larger villas costing as little as $16 per guest on their cheapest observed dates.

American Express recently expanded its $600 Lodging Credit to include prepaid Airbnb Luxe stays. Eligible U.S. Consumer Platinum and Business Platinum cardholders receive:
January through June: Up to $300 in statement credits.
July through December: Up to $300 in statement credits.
These credits are shared across FHR, THC, and Airbnb Luxe bookings.
For example, if you've already used $200 of your second-half credit on an FHR hotel, you'll have $100 remaining for an Airbnb Luxe reservation.
One advantage of Airbnb Luxe is the ability to split the cost of a larger home among several travelers.

The important distinction is that these are among the cheapest homes per guest, not necessarily the cheapest by total nightly rate.
Tulum, Mexico, is one of the most interesting destinations on our list, with three affordable Airbnb Luxe properties: Ka'ana A302, Ka'ana C302, and Chic Villa.
Located along Mexico's Riviera Maya, Tulum is known for its Caribbean beaches, turquoise water, and ancient Mayan ruins overlooking the coast. The area's mix of beach activities, restaurants, and historical attractions makes it an appealing destination for couples, families, and groups of friends.
Vietnam has two properties on our list, offering completely different experiences.
Da Nang is a coastal city in central Vietnam known for its long sandy beaches, modern waterfront, and proximity to the historic town of Hoi An. Visitors can spend their days exploring My Khe Beach, the Marble Mountains, and the surrounding coastline.
Ho Chi Minh City, meanwhile, offers a much more urban experience. Opera Suites is located in the city's central business district, making it an appealing option for travelers who want to experience Vietnam's largest city's restaurants, markets, rooftop bars, and nightlife.
Kissimmee, Florida, is another destination worth considering, particularly for families planning a trip to Orlando.
Located south of Orlando, Kissimmee is a popular base for visitors to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and the area's other attractions. Beyond theme parks, visitors can explore nearby nature preserves, take airboat rides, and enjoy Central Florida's outdoor activities.
The four-bedroom Airbnb Luxe home near Disney offers an alternative to staying at a traditional resort, especially for families who prefer having a private home during their vacation.
According to American Express, qualifying reservations must meet several requirements:
Book an eligible Airbnb Luxe property through Amex Travel or the Amex Travel app.
Prepay with an eligible Platinum Card.
Reserve at least two consecutive nights.
Link your Airbnb account to your American Express account.
Have the booking cardmember stay at the property.
Regular Airbnb listings booked directly through Airbnb don't qualify for the Lodging Credit.
The credit depends on when the eligible transaction is processed, not when you travel. Therefore, booking a qualifying 2027 stay before the end of December 2026 could use your remaining 2026 lodging credit.

For groups that would otherwise need several hotel rooms, an Airbnb Luxe home could be a worthwhile alternative. However, smaller groups may get better value from FHR hotels, particularly when they can use hotel-specific benefits.
The lodging credit isn't the only new benefit.
Eligible Platinum cardholders who confirm a qualifying prepaid Airbnb Luxe booking through Amex Travel can unlock up to $250 in annual Airbnb Experiences statement credits.
This is separate from the $600 Lodging Credit.
After your Luxe reservation is confirmed, you can purchase eligible Airbnb Experiences directly through Airbnb. There’s a bunch of different activities you can do with Airbnb Experiences, including cruises, food tours, wine tastings, and private boat rides. You must purchase qualifying Experiences by December 31 of the calendar year in which your eligible Luxe reservation is confirmed.
For example, confirming an eligible Luxe booking in November 2026 for a 2027 stay can unlock the 2026 Experiences benefit, but qualifying Experiences purchases must occur during 2026.
Airbnb Luxe gives Amex Platinum cardholders another way to maximize their $600 annual Lodging Credit, especially when traveling with larger groups.
