Start with FHRMaxxer. It plots participating properties on a map, labels each as Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection, and shows Amex Travel nightly rates for the dates it has priced, plus which nights had no availability.

Just to be clear, this is not live data. Sort by price, pick three or four properties you'd actually stay at, then confirm the rate, room type, and benefits in Amex Travel. That's where the booking has to happen for benefits to apply.

Cheapest FHR and THC Hotels in Bangkok

The table below shows each hotel's lowest nightly rate, the date we found it, and its average nightly price. Prices include taxes & fees.

KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton: from $117 (THC)

With nightly rates as low as $117, KROMO is the cheapest hotel in Bangkok across both programs and the only property with rates under $150/night. It's a Hotel Collection property on Sukhumvit Soi 29, near BTS Phrom Phong and Asok, a short walk from the Em District malls and Benchasiri Park. It opened in September 2025, which is probably the biggest reason the rate is this low.

COMO Metropolitan Bangkok: from $167 (THC)

A strong two-night value in the city: its low rate covered two back-to-back nights for a total of $334, leaving $34 out of pocket after the $300 credit. KROMO starts lower, while COMO still comes close to fully covered.

COMO Metropolitan sits on South Sathorn Road in the embassy and business district, closer to Lumphini Park and the Silom offices than to the river temples, suited more to a work trip than sightseeing. Nightly rates averaged $248 across the year.

The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon: from $169 (THC)

The Standard occupies the lower floors of the Mahanakhon tower in Silom, near BTS Chong Nonsi, with a pixelated facade, bold interiors, and a rooftop bar scene that runs late. It's worth knowing that the Mahanakhon SkyWalk observation deck upstairs is a separately ticketed attraction, not included with the room.

Paired with the cheapest adjacent night, a two-night stay runs about $345, with the $300 credit covering most of it.

Waldorf Astoria Bangkok: from $251 (FHR)

The cheapest Fine Hotels + Resorts property in the city, and the first entry on this list with the fuller benefit package: daily breakfast for two and a guaranteed 4pm checkout, on top of the $100 credit Hotel Collection stays also get, and with no minimum stay.

The Peninsula Bangkok: from $345 (FHR)

The Peninsula sits on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya, with river views and a shuttle boat to the Skytrain side, suiting a trip built around the river and old city. Two nights at $691 comes to about $391 after the $300 credit, with breakfast for two both mornings and the $100 credit included. This could be a pro or a con depending on who you are, but every trip to the BTS network starts with a boat.

How to book FHR and THC hotels in 2026

Both programs run through American Express Travel only: amextravel.com, the Amex Travel App, or the Amex App. A rate booked directly with the hotel, through a third party, or at the front desk earns none of the program benefits.

Access differs by program: Fine Hotels + Resorts is limited to Platinum and Centurion Card Members, while The Hotel Collection also opens to Gold Card Members and Companion Platinum Card Members (who can't book Fine Hotels + Resorts). But, Platinum/Centurion cardholders can book THC properties.

The credit has its own rules:

• Platinum and Business Platinum give up to $300 back semi-annually (January–June and July–December), for up to $600 a year.

• It applies only to prepaid ("Pay Now") bookings.

• A pay-at-property rate doesn't trigger it, and no enrollment is required.

For instance. A two-night KROMO stay starts at $235. The $300 credit covers the full stay!

What benefits do you get with FHR and THC?

Every eligible Fine Hotels + Resorts booking includes six benefits. Four are guaranteed:

1. daily breakfast for two,

2. a $100 credit toward eligible charges,

3. guaranteed 4pm checkout,

4. and Wi-Fi.

Two depend on availability:

1. noon check-in and

2. a room upgrade.

The breakfast benefit has a floor worth knowing: the greater of $60 per room per day, or twice the price of the hotel's cheapest breakfast-entree-plus-coffee-and-juice combination. Over two nights, that's at least $120 on top of the $100 credit.

The Hotel Collection is lighter: a $100 credit toward eligible charges, plus noon check-in, late checkout, and a room upgrade when available, on a minimum two-night stay. Breakfast isn't included, late checkout is subject to availability rather than guaranteed, and what the $100 credit covers varies by property.

FHR vs. THC in Bangkok

In most cities this comparison is about benefit quality. In Bangkok, it's mostly about price. The 12 Hotel Collection properties averaged around $300 a night, against roughly $630 for the 16 Fine Hotels + Resorts properties. Every one of the nine cheapest hotels in the city is a Hotel Collection property. The cheapest Fine Hotels + Resorts option, Waldorf Astoria at $251, ranks tenth.

Fine Hotels + Resorts wins on flexibility and per-stay math: breakfast alone is worth at least $60 a day, 4pm checkout is guaranteed, and with no minimum stay, one night can trigger the full $300 credit. The Waldorf Astoria effectively costs nothing after the credit, while the cheapest Hotel Collection booking still needs a second night at whatever it costs.

With one or two nights and $300 to spend, the Waldorf Astoria or the Peninsula returns more benefit per dollar. Stay three nights or more, and Hotel Collection properties cover far more of the trip.
