Can you have multiple Atmos Summit cards?

We’ve been seeing reports of existing cardholders getting approved for a second Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® credit card while keeping their first one open.

That’s interesting if you already have the card and have been wondering whether you can get another. A second welcome bonus is one potential draw, but the annual Global Companion Awards and status points you get every anniversary year could also make keeping two Summit cards appealing.

Can I get the Atmos Summit if I already have one?

Some existing Summit cardholders report that they have done exactly that: approved for another Summit while already holding the exact same card. For example:

• One cardholder said they were automatically approved for a second Summit despite an unsuccessful prequalification check. They said they already held a Summit and an Atmos business card

• Another cardholder said they had obtained an additional Summit and planned to use it for a property tax payment

• A third person also said they had just received their second one

The key detail is that these reports concern two copies of the same Atmos Summit card held by one person. These are individual approval reports, so your own experience can have a different outcome, but these are interesting datapoints nonetheless.

Can you get a second Atmos Summit welcome bonus?

Another sign-up bonus is an obvious reason to consider a second Summit.

In a Reddit discussion about getting a second Summit, one applicant reported being approved and subsequently seeing a welcome-bonus spending tracker in their Bank of America app.

That is encouraging, but getting approved for another Summit does not necessarily guarantee another welcome bonus. Review the eligibility terms on the application you use, including any restrictions related to current or previous accounts.

Do multiple Atmos Summit cards get multiple benefits?

This is where it gets very interesting. Cardholders are reporting that they are receiving the benefits from both cards in the same Alaska Airlines Atmos account.

That means holding two of the Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® credit card could give you some very interesting (potential) benefit combinations:

I’m most interested in the 20,000 anniversary status points. That would essentially cover the requirements to earn Atmos Silver status every year. Combine that with standard Alaska Airlines flights and it means you’re well on your way to accruing Atmos Gold status. The catch: you only get the 10,000 status points every year on your account anniversary for each individual card (not combined together).

Having a second 25K Global Companion Award is certainly nice, but given it still requires you to fly with a Companion, it definitely requires some planning in advance. You really have to be traveling a lot with friends or familiy; otherwise, you risk losing out on a lot of value here.

The additional Alaska lounge passes are nice, but I don’t think they really make a huge difference for me here. I already sometimes struggle to use the two I get every quarter. Having four would make my head spin a bit and I think I’d be donating them off quite a bit.

Two opportunities to earn a 100K Global Companion Award could be useful for someone with substantial spending. But meeting a separate $60,000 requirement on each card means $120,000 in total purchases… I do not have that much spend to divert over.

Is it worth having two Atmos Summit cards?

If you can use another Global Companion Award and value the extra boost towards status, a second Summit could absolutely be worth considering. The question is whether the additional benefits you receive and use justify another big annual fee.

The unfortunate thing is that a second Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® credit card will have a lot of overlap with the first one. For instance, there is no point to having two cards that give you access to 3 points per $1 spent on eligible foreign purchases, free points sharing, or same day confirmed change fee waivers (you get all of those with one Summit).
