The card is less convincing as a general-purpose business rewards card. Most purchases earn only 1 point per dollar, employee cards cost extra and the anniversary Companion Fare requires $6,000 in card spending each year. If Alaska and Hawaiian are not already useful airlines for your business or personal travel, a flexible business travel card will probably be a better fit.
TLDR
The Atmos™ Rewards Visa Signature® Business Card card is best for business owners who fly Alaska or Hawaiian and can use the Companion Fare on a paid economy trip each year.
The anniversary Companion Fare can be worth far more than the annual fee, but it requires $6,000 in purchases during the prior anniversary year.
A free checked bag for the cardholder and up to six guests can offset the cost quickly, provided the flight is paid for with the card and the other eligibility rules are met.
The weak 1-point-per-dollar base rate makes this a poor default card for all business spending.

New cardholders can earn 70,000 Atmos Rewards points and a $99 Companion Fare* after making at least $4,000 in purchases within the first 90 days.
The Companion Fare can be used for an eligible one-way or round-trip economy itinerary within North America on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines when booked through alaskaair.com. The primary ticket must be a paid fare; the benefit cannot be paired with an award ticket.
We value Atmos points at around 1.5 cents each, so those 70,000 points are worth around $1,050 in travel. The Companion Fare is a bit trickier to evaluate. More on that in the next section.
*Note that the Companion Fare does not waive taxes and fees. The companion’s ticket will still cost $99 for the base fare plus applicable taxes and fees from $23.
The anniversary Companion Fare determines the card’s long-term value
You can earn Companion Fares with this card from two methods:
Meeting the card’s welcome bonus requirements
Each account anniversary after making at least $6,000 in purchases during the prior anniversary year
How it works: when booking travel with a guest, you can use a Companion Fare code to purchase their ticket from $122 ($99 base fare + applicable taxes and fees from $23).
The benefit works best on an otherwise expensive Alaska or Hawaiian economy itinerary. For example, if the primary ticket costs $500 and the eligible companion ticket costs $122, the gross savings can be substantial. If the companion would not have taken the trip or the paid fare is inexpensive, the real value is much lower.
There are several restrictions to plan around:
The primary and companion travelers must be booked on the same eligible itinerary.
The Companion Fare applies to paid economy travel, not award travel.
The itinerary must be booked through alaskaair.com and paid for with the card.
The certificate must be redeemed within 12 months of issuance, although travel can occur after the expiration date once ticketed.
How much is the Companion Fare worth?
The difficulty with valuing the Companion Fare is that it totally depends on how much you end up saving with your guest’s flight.
Let’s say you need to fly to New York with an employee for an upcoming conference. If you don’t use a companion fare, you’d pay at least $340 for two people in Saver ($170 for each ticket):
But, with the Companion Fare, you’d pay just $292 ($170 + $122) for the same 2 people—a small savings of $48.
There are many instances where the Companion Fare can save more, especially since it can be used for roundtrip bookings.
Essentially, we think it’s fare (haha) to value the Companion Fare at about ~$200, with the caveat that it requires a “guest” or “companion” to have any value in the first place.
Free checked bags may justify the fee before the Companion Fare does
Both the primary and employee cardholders can receive one free checked bag & Preferred Boarding for themselves and up to six guests on the same reservation. These are useful benefits, especially if cardholders don’t currently have Atmos Rewards status benefits.
I like it because it gives employees valuable Alaska Airlines benefits without needing to fly with the primary cardholder.
Alaska’s standard first-checked-bag fee is currently $45 for many North American itineraries booked on or after April 10, 2026. That means one traveler checking a bag on a round trip can avoid $90 in fees… enough to cover the minimum one-card annual cost. The savings grow when eligible coworkers or family members are on the same reservation, but the benefit has no incremental value for travelers who already receive free bags through elite status or their fare class.
The earning rates are useful, but not broad enough for every expense
The Atmos Business Card doesn’t have the most compelling set of earning categories out there:
3 points per dollar on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases;
2 points per dollar on eligible gas, EV charging, shipping and local transit purchases, including rideshare;
and 1 point per dollar on everything else.
These categories aren’t anything substantially interesting/competitive (there are much better spending cards out there). However, spending on this card also nets you some other benefits.
Status points from spending
Card spending also earns 1 Atmos status point for every $3 in eligible purchases.
Considering the fact that Atmos Silver requires just 20,000 status points, business spending can be a meaningful way to make progress towards your next status tier. For example, putting $12,000 of spend on this card would earn 4,000 status points… without stepping on a plane.
Relationship bonus increases earnings potential
Companies with an eligible Bank of America small business account receive a 10% bonus on points earned from card purchases.
That increases the effective return to 3.3 points per dollar on Alaska and Hawaiian purchases, 2.2 points per dollar in the 2-point categories and 1.1 points per dollar elsewhere. It’s a small boost that can really add up as you scale your purchases.
Every year that you spend at least $6,000 on purchases with your card, you earn another Companion Fare on your account anniversary. This is why we think the $6,000 mark is the “sweet spot” for spending on this card.
Let’s say you spend $6,000 in shipping on this card in an anniversary year:

Employee cards aren’t free, but they also get their own benefits
The annual fee for the Atmos Business Card is $70 for the company plus $25 for each card. Because an account needs at least one card, a one-card setup for the business owner costs $95 per year ($70 + $25). A company with five cards would pay $195 per year.

While plenty of business rewards cards offer employee cards at no additional annual fee, the unique aspect of these company cards is the extended Alaska benefits.
The card also provides business expense-management features, including transaction downloads and the ability to set card limits, but those are supporting features rather than a reason to choose this specific airline card.
Who should get the Atmos Rewards Business card?
The card makes sense for:
Business owners who regularly fly Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines and pay checked-bag fees.
Businesses who fly on trips with other employees in North America every year
Businesses with at least $6,000 of annual expenses that can be placed on the card without giving up too much value elsewhere.
Companies that spend meaningfully on Alaska or Hawaiian tickets, shipping, gas or local transit.
Consider another card if:
Alaska and Hawaiian offer limited service from your business’s home airport or do not fit your normal routes.
You usually travel alone and rarely check a bag.
You want rewards that can be transferred among several airline and hotel programs rather than points tied to Atmos Rewards.
Bottom line
The Atmos Rewards Visa Business Card is an airline-benefits card first and a business-spending card second. Its current bonus creates strong first-year value for an eligible business owner. In later years, the card earns its keep when the owner can use the annual Companion Fare or save on checked bags for themselves/employees.
The case weakens quickly for businesses outside Alaska and Hawaiian’s practical footprint. The $6,000 anniversary spending requirement, ordinary 1-point base rate and per-card fee make it less attractive as a default card for the whole company. Use it for the spending and travel benefits it rewards well, then pair it with a stronger flat-rate or flexible-rewards business card for everything else.
