You're probably here because you looked at the United Renowned Hotels and Resorts list and cringed... there are a lot of expensive properties on there and it's really hard to search for properties.
Most of us discovered this program through our United credit cards, which carry a Renowned Hotels hotel credit; not necessary to use, but a nice to have when it makes sense.
We've identified the cheapest qualifying properties with rates starting around $105 a night, and they still come with daily breakfast for two, a $100 property credit, a room upgrade at check-in when available, late checkout, and 5x United miles on the stay. Who wouldn't take a sub-$150 night that earns like a flight and feeds you in the morning?
Here's how to find when the best rates fall, which properties clear the annual credit outright, and how to book so the perks and the 5x actually trigger.
TLDR:
Most qualifying United Renowned Hotels and Resorts reservations comes with the same bundle, no status required:
No enrollment needed; hotel benefits (should) also attach to any qualifying booking made through Renowned Hotels and Resorts on Chase Travel.
Separate from the $100 on-property credit, some credit cards carries an annual statement credit for these bookings:
One thing to know: the credit has no minimum night requirement and it only triggers on prepaid United Renowned Hotels bookings through Chase Travel.
The portal doesn't let you browse the whole program by price (and it's a bit annoying to use), so we built the United Renowned Hotels tool to do exactly that. It plots all 1,393 Renowned properties with their lowest nightly pricing, sortable low to high, so the budget stays surface in seconds instead of after twenty minutes of clicking through Chase Travel.
If you carry more than one premium card, HotelMaxxer compares the same property across programs, so you can see whether a given hotel is a better deal through Renowned, Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, or The Edit before you commit.
The rates below are the lowest nightly prices our tool surfaced after scanning 365 days of availability for each property. They represent the floor (sometimes not the typical rate) and prices can change constantly, so confirm the live number in the tool before you book (these are not live prices; accurate as of June 2026).
A clear pattern holds: Las Vegas and Dubai anchor the bottom, and IHG brands (Kimpton, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo) carry most of the value in secondary U.S. and Asia-Pacific cities.
| Market | Example property | Lowest nightly rate |
|---|---|---|
| Las Vegas Strip | Park MGM | ~$105 |
| Las Vegas Strip | MGM Grand | ~$148 |
| Dubai | SO/ Uptown Dubai | ~$128 |
| Dubai | InterContinental Residences Business Bay | ~$157 |
| Auckland | Hotel Indigo Auckland | ~$155 |
| Zhengzhou / Pattaya | InterContinental (China / Thailand) | ~$172 |
| Manila | The Peninsula Manila | ~$197 |
| New Orleans | Kimpton Hotel Fontenot | ~$215 |
| San Antonio | Kimpton Santo Riverwalk |
Las Vegas is the easiest win on the whole map. Park MGM starting around $105, MGM Grand from $148, and the Cosmopolitan from $227 can all clear a Quest credit outright on the right dates, and the property credit goes a long way on the Strip. Dubai is the international counterpart, with SO/ Uptown Dubai from $128 and the InterContinental Residences from $157.
It's pretty interesting that cities with strong luxury connotations have some of the cheapest stays available. I haven't personally stayed at any of the above, but I can confidently say the SO/ Uptown Dubai is an insane deal. It's a 5-star hotel in Dubai Marina, which is home to nearly all of the nightlife and was the only walkable area of Dubai I found while I was there.
While it's unlikely you're getting either United card for the Renowned Hotels benefit, the credit is quite sizable, so you probably want to at least think about it. Both cards earn 5x on Renowned stays and both get the full on-property perk set when booking through the United Renowned Hotels portal.
| Feature | United Quest℠ Card | United Club℠ Card |
|---|---|---|
| Annual fee | $350 | $695 |
| Renowned Hotels earn rate | 5x miles (through Chase Travel) | 5x miles (through Chase Travel) |
| Annual Renowned Hotels credit | Up to $150 per year | Up to $200 per anniversary year |
| Free first and second checked bags | Yes | Yes |
| IHG One Rewards status | None | Platinum Elite |
The Quest's $150 credit covers most of the budget properties on the map. The Club earns its keep once lounges and the bigger credit are in play, and it adds one thing the table only hints at: IHG One Rewards Platinum status. Since so many of the cheapest Renowned properties are Kimpton and InterContinental, that status is a second hotel lever the Quest doesn't pull.
If you're weighing Renowned against Amex's version, Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts guarantees a 4 PM checkout and a richer annual credit, but it needs an Amex Platinum at a higher fee. Renowned rides on a United card you may already carry, and HotelMaxxer will tell you which one wins for the specific hotel you want.
You can access the Renowned hotels benefit through the following cards:
Booking is the load-bearing step to actually use the credit: the reservation has to be made and prepaid through Chase Travel's Renowned Hotels portal.
United Renowned Hotels wins when the cash rate is already low and the credit, the 5x, and the on-property perks stack on top, which is most of the budget end of the map. It's the obvious call when you simply need to use the annual Renowned Hotels credit (since, leaving it unused would be worse).
Booking direct can still win in one case: portal bookings don't always earn hotel elite-night credit, so if you're chasing or holding status with a chain, weigh the lost nights against the Renowned perks. That said, we have seen instances of being it credited, so YMMV.
The annual fee only pays for itself if you actually redeem what you're paying for. nextcard tracks the Renowned credit against its cap, syncs your spend automatically through Plaid, and sends a notification before the credit resets unused. You can see your MileagePlus balance and credit progress in one place instead of reconstructing them from confirmation emails. Track it all in nextcard so a forgotten credit doesn't quietly expire.
If you're carrying a United Club or United Quest Card, the Renowned Hotels credit is sitting there waiting to be used; the question is just where to spend it.
While a large majority of the hotels are expensive, there are some winners scattered throughout. If you know where to look, a single prepaid night through Chase Travel can clear most or all of the annual credit while still pulling in the $100 property credit, breakfast for two, an upgrade when available, and 5x United miles.
Use the nextcard map tool to find a property under your credit cap, book the stay, and turn a benefit you're already paying for into a near-free night.
Find a one-night prepaid rate that fits under or near your card's annual credit (up to $150 on the Quest, up to $200 on the Club) and book it through Chase Travel's Renowned Hotels portal so the statement credit triggers.
Las Vegas is the easiest place to clear it outright, with Park MGM starting around $105 a night on the cheapest dates our tool surfaces.
Up to $200 per anniversary year on the United Club Card, or up to $150 per year on the United Quest Card. It posts automatically on prepaid Renowned bookings made through Chase Travel, with no enrollment.
You earn 5x United miles for prepaid United Renowned Hotels bookings (for credit users, you don't earn that on the portion covered by the credit). Hotel points and elite-night credit vary by brand and aren't guaranteed on portal bookings, so confirm with the chain if status is the goal.
Yes. Our United Renowned Hotels price list shows all ~1,400 properties organized by lowest nightly rate, and the cheapest Edit hotels guide runs the same drill for Chase's Edit program if you also carry a Chase Sapphire Reserve® card.
