Bilt's September 2026 Rent Day is worth paying attention: a potentially huge one-day transfer bonus to Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Members get a transfer bonus of up to 100% across Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club on September 01, 2026.

TL;DR

  • The Virgin transfer bonus is available only on September 1, 2026 (Tuesday)

  • Blue members get 25%, Silver 35%, Gold 45%, and Platinum 75%; Platinum members can spend $200 in Bilt Cash to raise the bonus to 100%.

  • There is a 150,000 base Bilt Points transfer cap shared across Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. A Platinum member using the buy-up could receive as many as 300,000 Virgin points.

  • Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club accounts can share a Virgin points balance, giving members access to both travel and experience redemptions.

The headline: Bilt's September Virgin transfer bonus tiers

On September 1, Bilt members can transfer points to Virgin Red, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, or both. The bonus depends on Bilt status:

Bilt requires transfers in 1,000-point increments:

  • Blue members have a 2,000-point minimum;

  • Silver, Gold, and Platinum members have a 1,000-point minimum.

The promotion applies to up to 150,000 Bilt points transferred in total across Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Using $200 in Bilt Cash for the upgrade raises the Platinum bonus for transfers to both programs; it is not a separate $200 purchase for each one.

Is the $200 Bilt Cash Platinum upgrade worth it?

The 100% tier sounds dramatically better than 75%, but the buy-up is not automatically worth $200 in Bilt Cash. It adds 25 Virgin points for every 100 Bilt points transferred compared with the standard Platinum tier. And remember: there is opportunity cost math involved, since you could use that $200 in Bilt Cash for a different redemption.

Because the $200 Bilt Cash cost is fixed, the value depends heavily on how many Bilt points a member plans to transfer:

The upgrade is therefore most compelling for a large, planned transfer. Spending $200 in Bilt Cash to add 6,250 Virgin points on a 25,000 Bilt Point transfer is a much tougher case than adding 37,500 Virgin points at the promotional cap. Platinum members should decide based on the size and certainty of their redemption, not the 100% headline alone.

If you’re confused about what’s the best way to use your Bilt Cash, calculate it using the Bilt Cash Redemption Calculator.

Need more ways to use Bilt Cash?

You only have ~3 months left to use your Bilt Cash before it expires. While $100 of Bilt Cash will be permitted to “roll over” to the following year, you still need to take care of business.

If this bonus doesn’t excite you, look into adding an authorized user to redeem more Bilt Cash.

Virgin Red vs. Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

The two programs are the same, but also different.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is the airline loyalty program. Virgin points can be used for reward seats on Virgin Atlantic and eligible airline partners like All Nippon Airways (ANA). That partner access is a major reason the transfer bonus can be valuable even for someone who is not planning to fly Virgin Atlantic itself.

Virgin Red focuses on non-flight redemptions such as cruises, hotels, and experiences.

Note: you can connect both programs together and share a single Virgin points balance.

One useful redemption example: ANA business class for 52,500 points

Virgin Atlantic's current ANA award chart prices a one-way business-class flight between Japan and Australia, Canada, or the Western United States at 52,500 Virgin points, plus taxes/fees.

With this transfer bonus, a Platinum member could book that flight for just 30,000 Bilt Points (75% transfer bonus). That is absurd.

But, just to note: ANA awards are not easy to find through Virgin Atlantic and are considered “unicorns.”

What else is included in September Rent Day?

These are not as exciting as the Virgin transfer bonus, but worth noting nonetheless.

Targeted statement-credit redemption bonus

Some Bilt Cardholders can receive more value when redeeming Bilt points for a statement credit through September 1 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

The minimum redemption is 1,000 points. This offer is targeted, so it will not appear for every cardholder. I'd probably skip this redemption, unless you really want to get rid of your Bilt Points.

Double points on September 1

Bilt Cardholders also earn accelerated points on eligible everyday purchases on September 1, excluding rent and tax payments:

  • Blue earns 2X

  • Obsidian earns 6X on its selected dining or grocery category (note the caps and restrictions), 4X on travel, and 2X on other purchases

  • Palladium earns 4X on everyday spending.

Each card is capped at earning 1,000 bonus points on Rent Day.

Neighborhood experiences and Global Citizen access

  • Comedy and dining: Member-only experiences across participating cities, with some bookings eligible for up to $50 in Bilt Cash.

  • Fitness: Free September 1 classes at SoulCycle and Barry's, with limited capacity.

  • New York food truck: Complimentary Fish Cheeks crab or vegetable fried rice and Thai iced tea at Bilt HQ on September 1.

  • Global Citizen Festival: 100 general-admission tickets are available for 5,000 Bilt points each, plus a sweepstakes awarding three members and their guests an all-expenses-paid VIP weekend.

  • Rent Free: Hugh Jackman plays the September game, with the top scorers eligible for free rent and additional members receiving Bilt points.

  • Bilt Collection: A Global Citizen hat and hoodie are available while supplies last, with up to $10 in Bilt Cash applicable per item.

Most experience bookings open on Saturday, August 29, with early access for Gold and Platinum members shortly before general booking. Capacity is limited, so members interested in a specific event should check the Bilt app for the exact opening time and terms.

Of course, redemption/bonus strength is up to the eye of the beholder. You may find more value in redeeming your points in other ways.

It is worth noting that Virgin has a lot of transfer partners (eg Chase & Amex) and they typically do run bonuses in the magnitude of 25-40%. So, it’s not like Virgin points are hard to come by.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Bilt Rent Day transfer bonus for September 2026?

On September 1, Bilt members can receive a 25% to 75% bonus when transferring points to Virgin Red or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, depending on status.

Platinum members can spend $200 in Bilt Cash to raise the bonus to 100%.

Can I transfer Bilt points to both Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic?

Yes. Members can transfer to either or both programs. The promotional limit is 150,000 base Bilt points total across both programs, and the Platinum Bilt Cash upgrade applies to transfers to both.

What can I use Virgin points for?

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club offers reward flights on Virgin Atlantic and eligible airline partners. Virgin Red focuses on cruises, hotels, and experiences. Members can link both accounts to share one Virgin points balance.

Is the $200 Bilt Cash Platinum upgrade worth it?

This is an opportunity cost question. Simply put, it is most compelling for a large transfer of Bilt Points. If you aren’t transferring a lot of Bilt Points with this promotion, then you probably want to use your Bilt Cash for something else.

Should I transfer Bilt points just because there is a bonus?

No. Bilt transfers cannot be reversed, and Virgin partner awards are subject to availability. Confirm the award or redemption first, then transfer the amount you need.

Thankfully, Virgin Points never expire.
