Leading Hotels Redemptions That Stand Out

A few hotels are particularly interesting when you look beyond the ranking.

La Badira (Tunisia)

La Badira is the cheapest hotel we found. Located on Tunisia's Mediterranean coast, the adults only property offers a particularly inexpensive entry point into LHW awards.

Its average observed price was also just 2,221 points/night, making it worth checking if Tunisia fits your travel plans.

The Nai Harn (Phuket)

The Nai Harn is one of the strongest beach options on the list.

Its lowest observed price was 1,831 points/night, although the average was higher at 3,029 points. That's a good example of how much flexibility can matter with LHW awards.

Sun Gardens Dubrovnik (Croatia)

Sun Gardens Dubrovnik gives you another affordable resort option in a popular European destination.

Screenshot 2026 10 09 at 2.46.17 PM

Its lowest rate was 2,252 points/night compared with a 3,201 point average. The resort sits outside Dubrovnik's historic center, so it's better suited to travelers looking for a resort experience than an Old Town stay.

Pestana Palácio do Freixo (Porto)

Portugal has several inexpensive LHW options, and Pestana Palácio do Freixo is one of the cheapest.

Screenshot 2026 10 09 at 2.50.05 PM

The historic property along Porto's Douro River dropped to 2,262 points/night. Grande Real Villa Itália in Cascais and Pestana Palace Lisboa also made the top 20.

Imperial Hotel (Tokyo)

The Imperial Hotel stands out because it gives you an incredibly affordable LHW redemption in Tokyo. Surprisingly, it’s also in a great location: right near the Shimbashi station.

Screenshot 2026 10 09 at 2.47.39 PM

We found a low of 2,735 points/night compared with an average of 3,668. If Tokyo is already part of your trip, this is one property worth comparing against the available cash rate.

The Okura Prestige Bangkok (Thailand)

The Okura Prestige Bangkok had a low of 2,812 points/night and an average of just 3,017.

That relatively small difference makes its observed pricing more consistent than properties where the cheapest night is dramatically below the average.

How to Find Cheap Leading Hotel Redemptions With LHWMaxxer

LHWMaxxer lets you compare Leading Hotels award prices without manually searching properties one at a time.

Start with the destination you're considering and compare properties and dates. Once you find an appealing rate, confirm the award directly with Leading Hotels before transferring any points.

LHWMaxxer can also find rates with taxes and fees. That's important because the points price isn't necessarily your entire cost (about 60% of properties charge taxes/fees for award redemptions).

Screenshot 2026 10 09 at 4.19.15 PM

Leaders Club points cover the eligible room rate, while taxes and fees may still be your responsibility. A 2,000 point award with significant cash charges could be less attractive than a 2,500 point award with minimal additional costs.

Look at points + cash, not points alone.

Transferring Amex and Citi Points to Leaders Club

You don't necessarily need to earn Leaders Club points from hotel stays to book these awards.

American Express Membership Rewards currently transfers to Leaders Club at 4:1, meaning 1,000 Amex points become 250 Leaders Club points.

That makes a 2,000 point LHW award roughly equivalent to 8,000 Amex points before accounting for transfer increments.

Citi ThankYou Rewards also offers transfers to Leaders Club.

Screenshot 2026 10 10 at 2.49.31 PM

The most important rule is simple: don't transfer until you've found the award you want.

Confirm the hotel, dates, points requirement and estimated taxes and fees first. Then check the live transfer ratio in your Amex or Citi account immediately before transferring.

How to Calculate The Value of Your Leaders Club Points: Is It Worth Transferring From Amex?

Suppose a hotel costs $350 cash or 3,000 Leaders Club points plus $50 in taxes. You must factor in the cash taxes and fees; they're real costs and should be subtracted from the amount you're saving.

Your points are effectively replacing $300:

  • $300 ÷ 3,000 = 10 cents per Leaders Club point

  • If you transferred Amex points at 4:1, you'd need the equivalent of 12,000 Membership Rewards points. That's approximately:

  • $300 ÷ 12,000 = 2.5 cents per Amex point

Getting 2.5 cents per point is pretty solid for an Amex point!

Final Thoughts on the Best Leading Hotels Points Redemptions

The best Leading Hotels points redemptions can be surprisingly affordable. La Badira was the cheapest property at 1,722 points/night, followed by The Nai Harn at 1,831 points/night.

There are also appealing options in Tokyo, Bangkok, Portugal, Mexico City, Dubrovnik and other destinations for fewer than 3,000 points/night on the cheapest dates we found.

Use LHWMaxxer to compare award rates, dates, taxes and fees before transferring points. A little flexibility can be the difference between paying an average award rate and finding one of the cheapest nights on the calendar.
