The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card used to cover two guests per lounge visit without a second thought.

Now choosing the right lounge for guests after Capital One's policy update means weighing guest fees against annual fees and figuring out which card actually saves you money. The answer depends on how often you travel with others and which airports you fly through most.

TLDR:

  • Capital One Venture X removed complimentary guest access on Feb 01, 2026; you now pay $45 per guest accessing Capital One Lounges.
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve® offers 2 complimentary guests for their Chase Sapphire lounges; authorized users get their own membership for $195.
  • Amex Platinum requires $75,000 yearly spend to unlock complimentary guest access to Centurion Lounges.
  • nextcard's Airport Lounge Map helps you find lounges around the world

Understanding the Capital One Venture X Guest Access Changes

On February 01, 2026, Capital One removed complimentary Capital One Lounge & Priority Pass guest access from the Venture X. Cardholders could previously bring up to two guests into these lounges at no cost. Now you'll have to pay additional fees to bring guests in, while Capital One Venture lounge access remains free for the primary cardholder & for any authorized users who've paid the $125 annual lounge fee:

CardCapital One Lounge & Landing Guest FeePriority Pass Guest Fee
Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card• $45 per visit per guest 18 and older • $25 per visit per guest 17 and under • Children under two are free• $35 per visit per guest
Capital One Venture X Business• $45 per visit per guest 18 and older • $25 per visit per guest 17 and under • Children under two are free• 2 complimentary guests per visit; for more than 2 guests, passes can be purchased for $35 per visit per guest

Now, you can't just bring your family into the lounge with you for free. For travelers with partners, family, or friends, the costs of bringing guests into lounges can really start to add up.

Especially at popular airports where there are many alternatives, that's why many people are looking for cards that still include guest access without per-person charges.

Why the Venture X Business Card Remains Strong for Guests

The Venture X Business kept its complimentary Priority Pass guest access intact after the February 2026 policy change. You can still bring two guests per visit at no extra charge, making it the closest match to what the personal Venture X offered before.

The business version carries the same $395 annual fee and includes most of the same perks: Priority Pass Select membership, a $300 annual travel credit, 10,000 anniversary bonus miles, and access to Capital One lounges. If you're a business owner, freelancer, or side hustler who can qualify for a business card, this keeps your guest privileges without changing issuers.

Spending $75,000 for Guest Lounge Access

If the Venture X primary cardholder spends at least $75,000 total on purchases in a calendar year, they can bring up to two complimentary guests into Capital One Lounges and one complimentary guest into Capital One Landings per visit. Unfortunately, spending $75,000 does not grant any complimentary guest lounge access to Priority Pass lounges.

Is this worth doing? That is not a particularly easy question to answer because it raises the question of opportunity cost. You could spend $75,000 on the Venture X to get guest lounge access, but you could also put that spend towards new cardmember bonuses or towards higher earning categories.

Chase Sapphire Reserve for Consistent Two Guest Access

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® lets you bring two guests into Priority Pass lounges and Chase Sapphire Lounges at no charge. The $795 annual fee includes Priority Pass Select membership plus access to Chase's own lounge network.

When you add an authorized user for $195, they get their own Priority Pass membership with the same two-guest benefit. That's powerful for couples who travel separately or families splitting up at the airport. Between two cardholders, you can cover four people total at busy airports.

Amex Platinum Guest Access After $75,000 Spend

The <amex-platinum> offers guest access to Centurion Lounges, but only after you spend $75,000 in a calendar year. Once you hit that threshold, you can bring two guests per visit at no charge. Below $75,000, you'll pay $50 per adult guest or $30 for children ages 2 to 17.

For most cardholders, $75,000 is a high bar. That's roughly $6,250 per month in everyday spending; worse, the Platinum only earns 1x on purchases that don't qualify for 5x on flights & hotels. That can be a significant opportunity cost, since you can earn much more on other cards.

Ritz Carlton Card Limited Access for Families

It's not particularly easy to get access to this card since they stopped accepting new applications years ago, but it has some of the best guest lounge access policies around with a relatively low annual fee of $450 (comparatively speaking).

You can bring up to two guests into Chase Sapphire and Priority Pass lounges for no charge. Any additional guests will cost $27 each. Plus, authorized users also get the same guest lounge access benefit with no additional fees. This is awesome.

For example, let's say you have the Ritz-Carlton™ Credit Card and add your partner as an authorized user for $0. You and your partner can both bring two guests into Chase Sapphire lounges completely free of charge.

You can typically product change to this card from other Chase Marriott products, but there are a few prerequisites. Chase doesn't advertise the option publicly, so you'll need to call and ask if a product change is possible on your account.

Overviewing Cards With Guest Lounge Access

There are lots of cards with guest lounge access—which card you decide to get depends on what kind of lounge you prefer, how much you are willing to spend on an annual fee and how much you are willing to pay for guest access.

Credit CardAnnual FeePriority Pass Lounge AccessCredit Card Lounge AccessAuthorized User Cost
Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card$395$35 per guest per visit2 free guests to Capital One Lounges after $75,000 spend. Otherwise $45 for guests 18 and over. $25 for guests 17 and under. Free for 2 and under$125 (for lounge access)

Chase Sapphire Reserve®$7952 free guests per visit2 free guests per visit to Chase Sapphire Lounges$195 (gets own Priority Pass with 2 guests)
American Express Platinum$8952 free guests after $75,000 annual spend; otherwise $50 per adult guest2 free guests after $75,000 annual spend; otherwise $50 per adult guest$175-$195 (gets own Centurion access)
Chase Ritz-Carlton (Existing Cardholders)$4502 free guests per visit2 free guests per Sapphire Lounge visit$0 (no fee + gets same lounge access as primary cardholder with guests)

Amongst the "easy to get cards", the Chase Sapphire Reserve® has the best lounge access policy for guests because two of your guests will have complimentary access to Priority Pass lounges along with Chase Sapphire lounges. Chase Sapphire Lounges can be quite nice, especially the newer ones. The Chase Sapphire Reserve® does come with a $795 annual fee but it has an extensive list of benefits and credits.

If you can get it, the Ritz-Carlton card is fantastic for guest lounge access. Nothing even comes close; getting lounge access for yourself and up to two guests is already incredible. But, authorized users don't even cost anything as well & get the same exact lounge access capabilities as the primary cardholder.

Paying for Lounge Guests vs Annual Fees

Lounge guest fees vary significantly from lounge to lounge, but let's use the Venture X as an example. Venture lounge guest fee currently costs $45 for guests 18 and older.

  • 1 guest fee: $45
  • 2 guest fees: $90
  • 3 guest fees: $135
  • 4 guest fees: $180

However, the Venture X authorized user fee is just $125. If you are guesting someone in 3 or more times a year, it doesn't really make sense to not add them as an authorized user at that point (since you're just paying more in individual guest fees anyways).

Home Airport Strategy for Lounge Selection

Your home airport's lounge network should shape which card you carry. If you fly out of Denver, Dallas, Las Vegas, New York (JFK), or Washington Dulles, you have direct access to Capital One Lounges with the Capital One Venture X Business and Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.

For travelers in cities without proprietary lounges, Priority Pass coverage matters more. However, Priority Pass isn't really a strong lounge network in the United States, so temper your expectations.

Check which lounges operate in your terminal before applying.

How nextcard Airport Lounge Map Simplifies Your Search

We built our Airport Lounge Map to solve this problem. You can filter lounges by airline network, see which cards grant access at specific airports, and compare coverage before applying.

Final Thoughts on Credit Cards With Guest Lounge Access

Guest access still exists on multiple premium cards even though the personal Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card dropped it. Use nextcard.com to compare lounge access across different airports and see which cards cover your terminals. If you pay enough guest fees, it can add up faster than authorized user fees on cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or American Express Platinum. Your travel patterns and home airport determine which card delivers the best value for bringing guests into lounges.
