TLDR; The American Express® Gold Card comes with multiple monthly and semi-annual credits that can easily offset the annual fee, but only if you remember to use them on time.
A new year brings a fresh reset on many credit card benefits, and the American Express® Gold Card is one of the most important to review thanks to its long list of annual credits.
With its sizable $325 annual fee, you (can) get over $400 in credits, but there's a lot to keep track of. Here at NextCard, we want to make sure you are maximizing your credit card rewards alongside miscellaneous benefits.
What’s the Resy credit on the American Express Gold card?
As an American Express Gold cardholder, you have up to $100 in Resy credits split into two semiannual $50 components for restaurants that are on the Resy platform. So you have one $50 credit for January through June and then another $50 credit for July through December (terms apply).
I love eating out so I thoroughly enjoyed using the Resy credit this year with my AMEX Gold. I got my American Express Gold Card in January of this year and I was able to use the Resy credit almost instantly. I live in the Greater Boston area and I went to this neat restaurant called Armsby Abbey.

I went to dinner with my girlfriend here and we spent around $47 between the two of us. Charged the bill directly to my Amex Gold & all covered by the Resy credit!
Notably, this credit is on a semiannual basis, so you'll need to use it or lose it before the end of the year. Make sure you've enrolled beforehand!
What’s the Grubhub dining credit?
You will get up to $10 in monthly statement credits when you use Grubhub (dining at Grubhub restaurants), Goldbelly or wine.com. You can also earn these monthly statement credits when you dine at The Cheesecake Factory or Five Guys. The monthly statement credits total up to $120 annually.
In my opinion, the best way to use this dining credit is on Grubhub. Grubhub has a number of restaurants on their platform so you have lots of options. I like to order pickup on Grubhub for a meal that’s around $11-$14 so I’m paying less than $5 total for eating out.
What’s the annual Dunkin’ credit on the American Express Gold Card?
With the Dunkin credit on the American Express Gold Card, you get up to $7 in monthly statement credits when you use the AMEX gold at US Dunkin locations. This totals to be up to $84 in Dunkin credit annually. Even if you don’t eat out at Dunkin, it can be nice to get a friend a sweet treat.
Personally, I’m not a Dunkin frequenter but have gotten fantastic use out of this credit. I’m a tea drinker and I’ve found out that you can get hot tea at Dunks—I had no idea before exploring the uses of this credit. So I can basically get two free tea drinks every month from Dunkin Donuts. But my favorite use of this credit is to buy coffee rolls for my grandparents. I live with them at their house and they always appreciate it when I get them coffee rolls for breakfast or a late afternoon snack.
The Dunkin credit wouldn’t be part of my reasoning to get the American Express Gold Card but it’s definitely a nice little bonus. Make sure you use your monthly Dunkin credit before the new year!
What’s the Uber Cash credit on the American Express Gold Card?
With the Uber Cash credit on the American Express Gold Card, you get $10 of Uber Cash for rides on Uber, dining out at restaurants on Uber Eats or getting food from your local grocery or convenience store. The Uber Cash totals up to $120 in value annually.
I’m not a frequent Uber Eats user since the fees are pretty high and DoorDash has a lot more options. But I do like using Uber for rideshare purposes—I like to use Uber to get around Boston especially if it's cheap or free with this credit.
Final Remarks
The Resy credit is the only credit on the American Express Gold Card that expires semi-annually and it’s arguably the most important credit on the card. If you haven’t used your Resy credit for the second half of the year, make sure you eat out sooner rather than later!
The $84 Dunkin credit, $120 dining credit and $120 Uber cash credit are monthly credits but they are also important features of the American Express Gold card. Don’t forget to use all your monthly credits for December.
FAQs
The restaurant must post the charge on December 31st in order for the Resy credit to be triggered this year. If the restaurant posts the credit in January of 2026, the credit will go to the first half of the year of 2026 (Jan-June $50 credit).
The American Express Gold Card is best for people who regularly spend on food—whether that’s dining out, ordering takeout, or grocery shopping—and are willing to actively use the card’s monthly credits. If you can naturally use credits like Resy, Grubhub, Uber, or Dunkin, the Gold Card can easily offset its annual fee and deliver strong ongoing value.
As someone who has the American Express Gold Card, I’ve noticed that it usually only takes a couple days to a week for my credits to post. It could take up to 8 weeks.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® is a fantastic lifestyle card with lots of miscellaneous credits and a solid dining credit. You get two $150 credits to restaurants participating in Chase’s Sapphire Exclusive Tables program (one for Jan-Jun, another for July-Dec).
Grubhub has over 300,000 restaurants all across the US.
