If even some of the benefits above are enticing, I would tell you to consider getting the American Express Platinum Card®. It has the biggest annual fee out there at $895 but if you can make use of most or some of the perks on the American Express Platinum Card®, it’s good value. I don’t have the American Express Platinum Card® but the $300 Digital Entertainment credit, $400 Resy credit, $300 Lululemon credit and $200 of Uber cash are all super appealing to me. If you count just those credits, I’d be getting $1,200 in value for just $895. Maybe I should get the American Express Platinum Card® lol.
Final Remarks
Being an authorized user on a card isn’t the most glamorous thing in the world but it can provide a lot of value. If you are looking for lounge access and you don’t want to spend big on a premium card like the American Express Platinum Card® or Chase Sapphire Reserve®, it’s a great choice to be an authorized user. And the amex-plat> has arguably the coolest lounge collection (including the AMEX Centurion Lounges) out there. Don’t forget about the hotel & car rental elite statuses either—both can dramatically improve your travel experiences.

FAQs
How do I know if I should get the American Express Platinum Card® or be an authorized user?
If you can use at least 3-4 credits on the American Express Platinum Card®, it might be worth applying to be a primary cardholder.
Can I use the primary cardholder’s benefits as an authorized user on the American Express Platinum Card®?
Yup. However, the authorized user does not get their own set of benefits. So that means you should be wary of using the primary cardholder’s benefits as they are the ones who paid the $895 fee for them…
Can I bring a guest into AMEX Centurion Lounges as an authorized user on the American Express Platinum Card®?
Yes, but it will come at a $50 fee for each guest.
Does the American Express Platinum Card® have foreign transaction fees?
Nope. This is a premium lifestyle/travel card and you can use it as you like abroad. Even as an authorized user.
What’s a good card for cheap lounge access as a primary cardholder?
The <altitude-connect> is a great card for inexpensive lounge access as you get four free visits a year to Priority Pass lounges as the card has no annual fee.
However, if you want more robust lounge access (such as access to significantly nicer credit card lounges), you'll probably want to look at the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.
