Chase to Virgin Atlantic 40% Transfer Bonus (Expires Feb 28, 2026)

If you’ve ever flown between the U.S. or Europe, or you’ve browsed flights between the two continents, chances are you’ve heard of or are familiar with Virgin Atlantic. Virgin Atlantic is highly regarded as one of the best airlines to fly on when traveling between the UK and North America, as it offers a much more comfortable and enjoyable cabin experience compared to its competitors on similar routes, such as British Airways and American Airlines.

On top of the pristine cabin service the airline itself offers, the airline also boasts a reputable flight rewards program: Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. With Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, you can unlock incredible flight deals between North America and Europe, as well as elsewhere across the world via airline partners.

A wide variety of credit card point programs allow cardmembers to transfer their points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, with such programs being Chase, Capital One, American Express, etc. Normally, all of these partners enjoy a standard transfer rate of 1:1, meaning that for every 1,000 credit card points that you transfer, you’ll earn 1,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points.

If you’re a Chase cardmember, however, you’re in luck. Until the end of this month (February 28, 2026), Chase cardholders can enjoy a substantial transfer bonus of 40% to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

For every 1,000 Chase points that you transfer, you’ll earn 1,400 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points, allowing you to further push the value of your points and unlock endless possibilities with booking award flights.

This deal is a prime opportunity if you have Chase points and were looking to book flights between the U.S. and Europe, or with any airline that is part of the Star Alliance. Historically, while there have regularly been transfer bonuses offered between Chase and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, transfer bonus rates usually hover around 25 to 30%. 40% transfer bonuses are much rarer, occurring around once a year.

Virgin Atlantic Example: Saver Fares

Obviously, some of the best and most optimal deals you could unlock via Virgin Atlantic Flying Club are with Virgin Atlantic flights. I’ve had plans to visit London in the fall for the past few months, and when these travel plans came to mind, I decided to strategically wait for a transfer bonus opportunity, as most of my points are with Chase.

Thanks to Virgin Atlantic Saver Award fares, you can enjoy flying between North America and the UK nonstop for as little as 6,000 points one-way.

For example, when I was searching for flights between the Philadelphia tri-state area (where I’m traveling from), and London, I noticed that I could fly from Washington, D.C. (IAD) to London (LHR) nonstop on Virgin Atlantic for just 6,000 points + $110 in taxes & fees.

When taking the 40% transfer bonus into account, the amount of points is reduced to approximately 4,286 points, meaning you can save nearly 2,000 points on booking this award fare.

Whenever you redeem your points, it is always a good habit to ensure that you are achieving the best redemption value possible for your flight booking(s). To determine this, you need to employ a practice we have mentioned many times in other articles: calculating a cent-per-point (CPP) value and conducting a holistic analysis based on CPP values across redemption options.

When evaluating whether or not a point redemption is worth it, you need to consider the cash value of the specific (or a similar) route to the one you are looking to book with points. By knowing an appropriate cash value, you can use this cash value as a baseline fare to compute the CPP value of the point redemptions you are looking to book.

In this example above, for my Virgin Atlantic flight from Washington, D.C. (IAD) to London (LHR), you can easily see that if I were to pay for the flight fully out-of-pocket with my cash via the Virgin Atlantic website, I would have to pay $385.

Using this, I would compute the CPP value of the standard saver fare of 6,000 points by evaluating the following mathematical formula: [(Cash Price - Taxes/Fees) ÷ (Points)] * 100.

After evaluating the equation, the CPP value of 6,000 points comes out to be [(385 - 110) ÷ (6000)] * 100 = 4.583. With this redemption, you’d achieve a CPP value of approximately 4.6 cents per point, which is an incredible value. For reference, the absolute minimum CPP value you should be achieving with redemptions is 1 cent per point, with the best redemption options usually hovering around 1.5 to 2 cents per point.

When factoring transfer bonuses in, you can stretch this CPP value even further. When applying the 40% transfer bonus to the 6,000-point redemption, you would only need an equivalent of 4,286 Chase points to book the flight.

After evaluating the new equation of [(385 - 110) ÷ (4286)] * 100, the new CPP value turns out to be 6.4 cents per point. This goes to show how you can unlock the power of your credit card points when taking advantage of transfer bonuses and promotional fares.

Star Alliance Example

Luckily, Virgin Atlantic isn’t the only airline you can book flights with via the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. As a member of the Star Alliance program, Virgin Atlantic unlocks the ability for you to book travel with partner airlines through Virgin Atlantic’s website.

Notable partner airlines you can book with via Virgin Atlantic include Delta, Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines, ANA, etc.

Transfer bonuses really shine when you can transfer a large amount of points. While the example shown earlier still allows you to save about 2,000 points on what would’ve been a 6,000-point booking, the amount of points you’ll save will be even greater when you transfer a larger amount of points.

For my upcoming winter break this year, I’m considering visiting Asia as I’ve never visited Asia outside of the summer season, and I thought it would be a great time to beat the heat and enjoy the winter weather after the Christmas festivities wrap up.

When searching for flights, I noticed that I could fly nonstop from Boston (BOS) to Seoul (ICN) on Korean Air for 37,000 points + $30 in taxes & fees by booking through the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club award platform.

If I were to pay for the same flight out-of-pocket directly with Korean Air, I would have to pay $1,217. By using points to book the same route via Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, I would be able to attain a CPP value of [(1217 - 30) ÷ (37000)] * 100 = 3.2 cents-per-point, which is a great value for Chase/Virgin points.

By taking advantage of the 40% transfer bonus, you would only need an equivalent amount of 26,429 Chase points to transfer over to Virgin Atlantic, meaning that you could save a little over 10,000 points. You would attain a new CPP value of [(1217 - 30) ÷ (26429)] * 100 = 4.5 cents-per-point, really highlighting how these transfer bonuses can truly upgrade the value of your point redemptions.

Final Remarks

The 40% transfer bonus from Chase to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is one of the strongest transfer promotions we’ve seen in recent months. While transfer bonuses between Chase and Virgin Atlantic typically range between 25% and 30%, a 40% bonus meaningfully changes the math, especially when paired with Saver Award availability or high-value partner redemptions.

As shown in the examples above, strategic redemptions such as Washington, D.C. to London for 6,000 points or Boston to Seoul for 37,000 points can unlock exceptional value.

However, as with all point transfers, remember that transfers are irreversible. Before moving your Chase points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, confirm award availability, double-check taxes and fees, and calculate your cent-per-point (CPP) value. Transfer bonuses amplify value, but only when paired with a thoughtful redemption strategy.
