TLDR: The Edit credit can be a pain to use on the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, but there are definitely some excellent redemptions.

Using The Edit credit on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® can be daunting at first but there’s some fantastic redemptions out there. I just booked a hotel stay for June 2026 so I could put my Edit credit to use before it expired at the end of this year.

What is the Edit credit on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Sapphire Reserve for Business℠?

The Edit by Chase Travel℠ is essentially Chase's version of Amex's Fine Hotels & Resorts program. In a nutshell, it's a bunch of fancy hotels.

The personal & business Sapphire Reserves both come with up to $500 in Edit credits every calendar year. However, you only get up to $250 for each eligible, prepaid booking. So, you have to make at least two bookings to get the full credit.

What makes a booking qualify for the Edit credit?

  • It must be booked through Chase Travel
  • Minimum 2-night stay required
  • The booking must be prepaid "Pay Now"—the credit will not apply for Pay Later bookings

Previously, the up to $250 credit was rewarded on a timeframe basis. However, for 2026 and beyond, you can receive the $250 credits for any Edit bookings—even those that are back to back.

What are the features that come with an Edit hotel?

When you book an Edit hotel, you will get:

  • Daily breakfast for two for free (*some properties may not have this)
  • $100 Property Credit
  • Room upgrade at check-in (if available)
  • Early check-in (if available)
  • 4 pm guaranteed late check-out
  • Wi-fi

The rest of the benefits are pretty self-explanatory but the $100 Property Credit is worth explaining. This can often be used at the hotel restaurant or for other cool amenities that require a cost at the hotel. For instance, you could use the credit for a spa at some hotels.

How do you find Edit hotels?

When you go onto Chase travel on your Chase account, you are able to filter Edit hotels by region but it’s still very tedious. For instance, let’s say you wanted to look at Edit hotels in the United States. You would be able to set a filter to US hotels but it’s in this big long list in no particular order. The other thing is that if you click on a hotel further down the list and then go back out to all US hotels, the website sends you back to the top of the list.

Instead of dealing with that list, you can easily search Edit hotels across the globe using our map tool. I use it as a map to see what Edit hotels are available in the places I’d like to travel to. The EditMaxxer also has pricing data, which makes it all that much more powerful.

It’s extremely efficient and it’s saved me hours of potential scrolling and searching on Chase Travel.

Another cool thing about our Chase Edit Hotel Credit Map is that you can see real pricing data. As of the time of writing, this is the only tool with full visibility into hotel prices.

We've used the pricing filters to quickly find high value opportunities to use the credit.

The EditMaxxer is free to use, but if you want to see beyond the next 14 days of pricing data, you'll need to create a free account with us. Once logged in, you'll be able to see pricing data for the entire next 330 days (sweet).

How do you know if you are paying a good price for your Edit hotel?

Booking Edit hotels can be tricky as oftentimes the hotels are pricier than they would be on the hotel’s website. The thing is that you have to factor in the $250 credit along with the other benefits you get when you book an Edit hotel on Chase Travel—$100 Property Credit, daily breakfast for two etc etc.

Notably, most Edit Hotels are expensive. Using the EditMaxxer, you can find high value opportunities to use the credit. I would say any booking around $250-500 for 2 nights is a pretty solid use of the credit.

What was my Edit hotel booking?

My girlfriend and I have really been looking forward to staying in Cape Cod, Massachusetts for a weekend in the summer. We wanted to stay for a weekend this past summer but the hotels and Airbnbs were too expensive for us to stay for more than a night.

Surprisingly, I was able to find solid pricing for one of the three Edit hotels on the Cape. I used the NextCard map to look at all three hotels. The Wequassett Resort & Golf Club and Chatham Bars Inn hotels had absurd pricing—some dates I looked at were more than $1,000 a night. I then checked out Red Jacket Beach Resort which seemed to be on the cheaper side. I looked at weekend stays in July and August and they were outside of my budget. I looked into June and was able to find a solid price at $718. I then used about 15,500 points with Points Boost which got the price down to $406. And Chase is offering a $250 credit for Edit hotels that are booked for two nights or more. So that means I would be paying $156 for two nights at the Red Jacket Beach Resort—a fantastic deal. It’s also nice to stay with my girlfriend where we can split the cost ($78 each).

What’s my next Edit hotel stay in 2026?

We’re not even into the next year and I’m already thinking about my next Edit stay. My first thought was to find a hotel to go skiing for a couple days. As a Massachusetts native, there are 2 states I really like to ski in—Vermont and New Hampshire. Stowe, Vermont is a storied place to ski with Stowe Mountain right there but Edit hotels were outrageously expensive there.

I noticed there was a hotel in Manchester, Vermont which was closer to me anyways. It was the Kimpton Taconic Hotel by IHG which seemed like a lovely hotel with a nice view. My idea was to go skiing with a couple friends from college. Unfortunately, prices were upwards of $1,000 for a weekend stay but I found some pretty reasonable prices during the week. I found a 2 night stay from February 25-27, 2026 for $493.

Even better, but since this hotel is also an IHG hotel, that means it qualifies for the $250 "select hotels" credit—nice.

I know it’s just one king bed, but I’m sure one of us can ask for a rollaway bed. Anyways at $493 a night, it’s quite cheap when you factor in the Edit credit. It would be $243 after the $250 Edit credit. And you could even get this hotel for “free” if you used about 12,000 points with points boost to offset the $243 remaining. Or, you could trigger the $250 "select hotels" credit.

Final Remarks

Most of the Edit hotels are not worth booking because the prices are so exorbitant. BUT there are definitely some good redemptions out there. If you don’t mind spending some time looking, you can put your Edit credit to good use. And our map should make searching for your next Edit hotel booking that much easier.

FAQs

Do your Edit credits expire?

Yes. They are use it or lose it per calendar year. In 2026, you will have two $250 Edit credits (totaling $500). They do not roll over.

Are there any other Chase cards besides the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ that have an Edit credit?

No. Edit Hotels are considered a luxury hotel collection only bookable with these two cards.

Can you book an Edit hotel only using points?

Yes, but I would recommend using points along with $250 in cash so that Edit credit can be toward covering the cash. That way you don’t have to use extra points for no reason.

The value of your points for Edit bookings is subject to Points Boost, so they will be worth anywhere between 1.65–2 cents per point typically.

How many Edit hotels are there?

There’s over 1,300 hotels in the Edit collection. They are spread out all over the world.

Do you have to book Edit hotels on Chase Travel?

Yes. You can only book Edit hotels on Chase Travel. You can always compare the Edit price for a specific hotel to the hotel’s website to make sure you are getting a good deal.

You cannot book directly with the hotel to receive the credit.
